Did you guys also delete the offending stuff, or get Gawker IT involved? Seems all the spam was deleted, which is fine. I just wanted to shoot an e-mail to helpdesk and give them the links, like Matt suggested, but seems like I don't have to anymore.

We're not able to delete them entirely but blocking the account(s) for Oppo makes the comments disappear and removes any notifications anyone may have gotten from them here. I guess those links won't be accessible, whoops.

If it happens again, grabbing a link and sending it off to Gawker IT and then alerting us seems like the best course of action to minimize any impact.

It's stopped for now anyway. If I have learned anything from this morning then it was a repetition of the old mantra "Don't feed the troll!" Even doing a meta-post about how someone is attacking a thread spurs them on. Fight Club: Don't talk about it! Just alert helpdesk@gawker and maybe a mod.
